Our program SOY H.E.A.T. (Human Rights. Equity. Access. Team) has developed new educational materials to address key issues that LGBTQ2S youth experience. Three educational videos on the topics of pronoun usage, intersectionality and allyship are presented in a conversation format between youth, tweens, and children. Through the use of video, the project demonstrates the power and knowledge of young people and that they are themselves teachers. This project aims to challenge adults who often complicate explanations unnecessarily or avoid conversations about real life issues with young people. By focusing on these three issues the videos offer transferrable concepts to help transform attitudes and can lead to institutional and organizational change. Big huge thanks to Route Eleven for their incredible production, Sherbourne Health Centre for providing a home for H.E.A.T., and Toronto Foundation for funding this initiative.
